The public library is one of our favourite place to visit. Not only is it great for the kid and mummy to be immerse in interesting reading materials. There are plenty of activities and events that are fun for kids to check out. Many public library have specially designed section for kids and some are pretty awesome. Here are our favourites:
This library has a kids section at the basement called “My Tree House”
The entrance is beautifully done with a forest theme. The cute little mushroom, flowers, squirrel and rabbit give the section a magical feeling. Another unique part of the big “treehouse” at the centre of the library. The three house is a great place for kids to sit and read.
Besides the treehouse, there are plenty of kids furniture around for kids to sit and play and read and move about when they got tired of reading.
The forest theme include the bookshelves and various sections. There are also moveable soft stools which kids can move about, stack and play with.
This library have an entire basement dedicated to the kids. Going down the stairs is part of the fun.
The entrance leads to a long flight of stairs with an evolution timeline on the wall. We learn that mammals appears 65 million years ago going down the flight of stairs.
The children section itself is huge. There are row and rows of book shelves and a big area to seat and read. There are plenty of display of books that may interest the kids all over and books are organised in a way where kids can find the books suitable for them base on age.
We love the little nooks on the library shelves where the kid can literally cured up in and read
This children library has a section call the children’s Reading Park is specially designed for kids. There is Enchanted Tree, a display area for children to indicate their favourite books; the Windows to the World, which feature thematic displays on people, places and events around the world; the reading corner, an area which encourages bonding between parent and child through reading together; and Expressions by Children, an area which showcases children’s art works and other creative projects.
Geylang East Public Library has a cute babies corner and a comfy Green Reading Space where kids can relax and read.
We love the ship shaped book case in this library. We wish there are a bigger collection but library is cosy and nice.
