Interesting places to go with kids in Singapore

[Updated 25 June 2016 ] There are plenty of places to enjoyed with kids in Singapore. Here are 22 interesting places and why we like them. The list is not in any particular order. Some of items are at the bottom simply because they are New!

Singapore Science Centre

Science Centre provides kids with hours for fun and learning

1. Science Centre

Lots of things to see and explore, plus a water fun playground that helps teach the concepts of science. With more than 850 exhibits, you and the kids can go to the science center many times and learn something new each time. There is also a nice water play area complete with changing facilities so prepare to spend a whole day there is you want ample time to cover everything. 2. Asian Civilization Museum

There are eleven galleries with ExploreAsian Zones that are specially designed for children. More on ACM

3. Singapore Zoo

Our world class Singapore Zoo features animals in a natural environment. Very educational and fun especially now that there is a Rainforest Kidzworld with a water fun playground, pony rides and contact sessions with animals. Bring your swim suit for this one.

4. Sentosa

Even if you don’t go for the rides or under water world, there is still plenty to see. Palawan Beach offers sand and animal and bird encounter sessions. A nature walk starting at the Imbiah lookout is offers interesting stuff to see and explore and the 120-metre-long Gaudi-inspired mosaic fountain walkway behind the Merlion offers a fascinating walk with a young child.

5. Underwater World

With large turtles, moray eels, sea dragons and jelly fishes, sharks, dugong and many other ocean dwellers as well as an interaction pool where you can touch the fishes and star fish, the underwater world is interesting and fascinating. The ticket is packaged with a performance by the pink dolphins which is bound to captivate the little ones.

6. Hortpark

With beautiful landscaping, interesting gardening concepts and at least three concept playgrounds, Hortpark is a popular place to bring the family for an educational and fun-fill time.

7. Castle Beach

Castle Beach is a place where families can bond and experience the beauty and work involve in making sandcastles. Get their patented 11 part building kit to start making intricate looking structures such as towers, staircases and battlements for the castles.

8. Marina Barrage

Experience the beautiful sea view and see how Singapore separate the sea water with a dam built across the 350-metre wide Marina Channel, our reservoir in the city and control floods from our low lying city areas. There are water-play and kite flying there too. more on Marina Barrage

9. Wallace Education Centre at Dairy Farm Nature Park

This use to be a dairy farm but today it offers a nice education center and short and cool rain-forest trails. Good for getting back in touch with the nature and some exercise. more on Wallace Education Centre...

10. Jacob Ballas Children’s Garden

This park is specially designed for children with a tree house and a water play area, ponds and plants that will remind you of kampong days. There are plenty of events there and things for kids to do and explore. more on Jacob Ballas Children Garden..

11 Vivocity

With an open air playground and roof top amphitheater and water feature in a a sky park, this interesting Mall also have loads of interesting stores . You and the kids can easily spend a whole day there. Some interesting stores to check out include the National Geographic Store and PAGEONE. National Geographic Store have photographic exhibition and shows documentaries from time to time. PAGEONE is a huge bookstore with plenty of interesting children’s books besides the art, design and architecture books they were well known for.

12 Qian hu Fish Farm

View a wide variety of tropical fishes here there is plenty to see. You can also feed the tortoise, catch long gao fish and get a fish spa. Enjoy the beautiful fishes and buy all you need to set up an aquarium in your own home.

13 West Coast Park

McDonalds, many many playgrounds, Go karts and a view of the sea and ships. Perfect place for a picnic, flying kites, cycling and lots of fun. more on West Coast Park..

14 Botanical Gardens

This place is great first of all because it is huge with lots of things to see and run about. There are lakes, statues, rivers, bonsai, and lots of plants, swans and butterflies around and even an Evolution Garden that mimick the vegetation in pre-historic times.  It is also near the city with clear signage and many nice food places.

15 Universal Studios

It is expensive, yes. It is smaller than the universal studio in Japan and L.A and Orlando. But hey, there are plenty to see and enjoy all the same. Great for a whole day of fun for the adults and kids alike. For parents who do not like to expose little kids to violence scenes on TV, you can skip the underwater world show which have plenty of gun fighting scenes. Our then 4 year old’s favorite was Shrek’s Castle.

16. Philatelic Museum

This is one museum that lots of interactive exhibits and activities for kids. While the Philatelic museum have lots of information about philatelic history, it also show us how stamps are a window to the world – to explore different topics such as science, technology, history and culture.

Who would have thought a museums about the study of stamps and postal history will be so interesting?

17. Jurong Bird Park

Check out the penguins, owls and a variety of interesting birds, pretend to be an archaeologist, hang out at the playgrounds. There are plenty for the kids to see and do. There are interesting looking birds like the king fisher, Spoonbills and Flamingos.  more on Jurong Bird Park…

18. Civil Defence Heritage Gallery

Learn about fire safety, civil defense in this interesting space. Explore old fire engines, interactive exhibits and pretend to be a fire man. We have more fun than we expected in this free gallery. more on Civil Defence Heritage Gallery..

19. Pasir Ris Park

There’s lots of greenery, at least 7 different types of playgrounds, and the beach at this huge park. There is also a maze garden, kitchen garden and mangrove walk for the nature lovers. Check out our article on the many playgrounds at Pasir Ris Park.

20. S.E.A. Aquarium at RWS Marine Life Park

Like the Underwater world, this Aquarium is fascinating with a touch pool for kids. While there is no display for dolphins and dugong for now, this place is much bigger and have more to see overall. Check out our day at S.E.A. Aquarium

21. Gardens by the Bay

This beautiful garden have plenty of plants to see and space for kids to explore! There is also water and dry playgrounds to keep the kids busy for a good half a day.


22. KidsZania

A theme park like a kids size city with it’s own bank, hospital, police station and commercial establishments, kids can try out different jobs, learn how to manage money and engage in lots of role-playing.

    I never knew there were so many fun things to do in Singapore! Thanks for posting photos too. The Science Centre looks particularly interesting. That would be a fun and educational experience for kids… and adults!
