Holiday Programs and Camps for Kids, November and December 2013

The end of the year school holidays are are around the corner again.  Now that the exams are over for the year it’s a great time to expose the kids to new activities or get them to brush up on skills they need improvement on.

Here are some programs we like for  kids in kindergarten,  preschools and primary school during the October* November and December holidays*. We will be updating this list as we find more interesting programs to occupy the kids. Let us know if you know of any interesting ones.

Workshops & Classes

A few hours a day to introduce the kids to some thing new and interesting.

A Space Writing Adventure! (Primary 3 and 4)

Join the Space Writing and Archaeology Team (SWAT) as they brave the dangers of space  travel and journey to Planet Covwsc to examine and document the newly discovered remains of an ancient alien civilisation. This five-day galactic space writing adventure by Julia Gabriel Centre will help budding writers familiarise themselves with the Six Traits of Writing through games and drama activities that inspire ideas and make writing an enjoyable and liberating experience.

ACT 3 Drama Academy’s Drama workshop

Focusing on the theme of ‘wonder’, each five-day theatre workshop aims to pique the children’s curiosity and encourage them to explore, question and be creative. Participants will be immersed and transported into the world of handpicked well-known books such as Rudyard Kipling’s Just So Stories and C.S Lewis’ The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe, which with their rich and vibrant imagery and storylines, provide the perfect platform for participants to exercise their sense of wonder, imagination and make-believe. There are workshops targeted for 3-7 years old, 8-11 years old and 12-16 year olds.

Exercise as a Family

Pilates Inc,  a division of The Moving Body Group is having a Fit Fam package where parents and kids can have the flexibility of choosing classes base  on a credit system. There are a a variety of classes – such as Gyrotonic, Pilates, Spinning (least 140cm in height)  to choose from.

For: 7 year olds and above

Camps

The kids may have plenty of time but the adults have plenty to do. Here are some camps to keep them occupied for half a day or more.

Fun with Mandarin

Tien hsia is having a number of full day Mandarin language building programs that incorporate visits to the bird park, toy museum, indoor playground and activities such as mosaic making and origami.

Junior Multi-Stars Camp

Le-Soul have a multi-stars camp where kids get to learn cool self defense Akido techniques, learn mind mapping, be exposed to different types of instruments, play the drums, and learn about friendship and teamwork.

Space Invention November/ December 2013 Holiday Camps

Kids get hands-on experiences with building various space-themed inventions using LEGO and recycled materials and robotics by designing, building, testing, improving, and documenting their inventions to meet the challenges in this camp by WondersWork

Camp Asia’s Super Chef with Emmanuel Stroobant

Lead by celebrity chef Emmanuel Stroobant’s team of highly trained chefs,  Super Chef camp, kids get to learn the importance of team work and leadership skills, an important part of running a professional kitchen, while mastering different recipes and gaining confidence in cooking. Price includes lunch, morning snack and a Camp Asia T-Shirt.

Overnight Adventure at Singapore Philatelic Museum

Check-in at the museum  for a night of adventure, games and craft!  Meet new friends, learn about the ‘King of Hobbies’ and enjoy the rare opportunity of sleeping among stamps!  Bring along a sleeping bag, jacket, pyjamas, fresh change of clothing and toiletries.  Includes dinner, supper and breakfast. Junior Avian Keeper at the Bird Park

At Jurong Bird Park’s Junior Avian Keeper program, kids get some hands-on experience with tasks such as preparing feed and enrichment for the penguins, lories and baby birds. They will also visit the only avian hospital in the Asia Pacific and find out  what goes on in maintaining the health of the birds.

Discover Science

Discovery Vacation Camps have a number of cool science camps that help the kids learn science while having fun. There is a variety of classes for Primary 1 to Primary 6 pupils. Each camp include outings to the places such as the  “Longkang”Fish Farm, Bread Factory and Fire Heritage Gallery

MY Outdoor Camp (Nature)

Metropolitan YMCA is having a number of exciting holiday camps. We like this 3 day camp that include farm visits, nature walk at neighboring islands, beach activities and camping skills. Yes the kids will spend two nights away from home.
