The Rink have fixed sessions for public skating. The timing is perfect for a half day play date. We decide on an early lunch followed by a 12.45 – 2.45 session. The boys were already excited at the entrance and zoom in once we have secured their tickets at the automated  purchasing machines.

The mummies were worried since this is the first time they are ice skating and decide to queue up for  Skating Aids (Yes you can only get the skating aid at the main counter and not at the automated payment machine)

The skate rental process is fuss free and the boys were starting to wear their boots by the time we got the skating aids- a snow man for taller kids.  Pretty soon they are on their way!

Besides the snowman, there is a penguin for smaller kids and the seal which is more stable and can take a “passenger”.

After two rounds with the snowman though, the boys decide that it’s more fun to skate without it. That’s fast!

The kids fell many times but the crews in brightly yellow shirt were always quick to help, check to make sure they are okay and to render first aid if needed.

Unexpectedly the kids were very fascinated with the ice shavings that came out from the side of their skates…

They start to see who can collect more until the friendly crew ask them nicely not to do that as it will affect the ice flooring. The session soon come to an end and the crew collect the skating aids and start smoothing out the floor for the next session.

Overall it’s good indoor exercise and fun especially on a hot day!

Tip

It’s cold! Especially for adults who are spectators rather than exercising on the ring. Do dress warmly with covered shoes. Towards the end of the session, my sandals wearing feet is getting numb from the cold despite wearing jeans and a cardigan.

Food and Jcube

There are plenty of eateries at Jcube so food is no issue. Jcube is very popular with teens and there are Trick Art museum kind of stations where you can take nifty pictures on your way or after the skating session!

There is also a pet shop at the basement and those plus a snack after the exercise easily filled up another hour of our play date.
