Mid Autumn Festival ( also known as Moon Festival or Mooncake Festival or Zhong Qiu Jie) falls on the 30 September this year, this traditional festival is celebrate by the Chinese communities worldwide. It originates as a harvest festival and is an occasion spent with family members. For kids, it means yummy moon cakes and fun playing with lanterns.
Take a walk by the River

Make Moon cakes
Safra is holding a series of workshops celebrating the Mid Autumn Festival. One of them that catches our attention is the Snow Skin Moon Cake making workshop. All ingredients and materials are provided!
For: Everybody. Kids under 12 years old can have a parent accompanying them.

Make a Lantern
Kids get to make their own lanterns with materials like empty tissue paper boxes, cellophane, old magazines, and coloured paper at the Esplanade!
For: Kids 6 – 9 years old

Visit the Chinese Garden
Look at gigi-antic lanterns at the Chinese Garden. There are also traditional cultural stalls, watch daily performance by overseas acrobatic group and enjoy fireworks display every Saturday and Sunday!

Check out the Festive Street Bazaar at Chinatown
There are more than 300 festival stalls at the Festive Street Bazaar offering festive goodies like moon cakes, pomelos, lanterns, handicraft and tea. It is very interesting for the kids, with lots of shopping opportunities.

Walk about with your own lanterns !
This is our childhood favorite. Get a lantern and walk about at any parks or playground or join a walk about. We like the one at Esplanade Waterfront.
