We never thought that we will get to stay in a house make entirely from log until we chance upon Philea Resort & Spa at Malacca. This resort which is right beside the highway is great if you enjoy the outdoors and want an experience in a different setting from the usual hotels in the Malacca area.
We had plenty of fun taking the buggy, walking and exploring the grounds, swimming in a pool with a “waterfall” setting.
The experience of staying at the log house is really rather cool. My city kid was quite impress with the tall ceilings and observing how the wooden beam intersects each other. We love that the room is big with a balcony and we have some fun playing with the panels that instructs housekeeping to come clean our room or not. It could get pretty noisy at night though as there log walls offers little sound proving from the buggy passing by or pulling up at the neighboring units. It rained in one of the nights and the rattling of the rain can get pretty loud too.
The resort is near to the Butterfly park and Zoo but is about 20-30 mins from the heritage area where the nice food and shopping are. So do plan the trip with this in mind.
The lobby has a huge steering wheel for a ship which our boy can’t get enough of.
The kids play room beside the pool has some toys and the cartoon channel to keep the kids occupied. Our 6 year old quickly realized that there is another game room right beside it with computers installed with his favorite angry bird game. Mum get to check email while he get to play.
