We got an invitation from Timbre @ Gillman to check out their first social BBQ. There are loads of interesting fringe activities for the kids and my boy have lots of fun while we chill out over a beer and some yummy food.
Gillman Barracks near Alexandra Road reminds me of Dempsey hills before the restaurants and family oriented places populated it and the crowd came in. Which is good for us as Timbre have plenty of parking space available on a Saturday evening. The restaurant have a relaxing atmosphere, lots of greenery around and good music. The Ipad menu make ordering a breeze.
The fringe activities
There are plenty for the kids to do at the social BBQ event. There is a large field behind the restaurant with tents to play in and balls and giant footballs for the kids to run about. (Make sure the kids have mosquito patch or repellant on though ) The organizer also have craft workshop where kids get to make masks made of felt, paint, colour and origami. There are plenty of materials and bubbles kids can help them selves with. Kids even learn how to play drums from the people from (JAM) Junior Academy of Music.
I was not expecting it, but the food here is very good! We ordered baby back ribs with mash potatoes and caramelised onions, Spicy Italian pork sausages with tomatoes & onions relish as well as chicken wings with fries and very delicious Portobello mushrooms.
I espcially like the baby back ribs, which are very well marinated and well done, with very fresh mashed potatoes on the side. The Portobello mushrooms comes in thick and juicy mushroom with yummy cheese crust.
We have a great time, enjoying the yummy food while the kid get busy trying out all the kids activities.
